Glimpsing the Lives of Famous Lingerie Models
Being a lingerie model comes with a few special perks. Travel, fortune and flexible work hours are a good place to start. Besides these there is beauty and, of course, fame. Here’s a glimpse of the lives of some of the most famous lingerie models.
One of the most iconic pinup models of all time is Bettie Page. She was born in 1923 in Nashville, Tennessee. Her 1950’s sex symbol status brought her a little fame since she tried her hand at acting. Two films created about her life are Bettie Page: Dark Angel and The Notorious Bettie Page. Her mysterious disappearance from the public eye occurred in the 1960’s. Bettie may have had serious mental health issues. The womens intimates model who started it all died in Los Angeles, California on December 11, 2008.
Born May 22, 1970, supermodel Naomi Campbell struggled to make it as a model because of the color of her skin. Because of her African heritage she wasn’t booked for shows but she persevered despite this to become one of the most famous supermodels of all time. She’s also been known to have a bad attitude. She assaulted her housekeeper, plead guilty and wore hats, furs and sequins to her mandatory community service in New York. Part of what makes a famous model more interesting is scandalous behavior.
Some supermodels are not only beautiful but show their kindness through charitable causes. Born June 1, 1973, Heidi Klum has been known to support organizations like the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, UNICEF and the Children’s Defense Fund. She also supported the Red Dress Program by donating her Oscar gown among the many other admirable acts of kindness she’s performed. She’s also been seen on the runway as a Victoria’s Secret Angel.
For the 14th year in a row, Gisele Bundchen made Forbes’ Top Paid Models list for 2016. She even beat Heidi Klum. Born July 20, 1980, she married quarterback Tom Brady in 2009 and dated Leonardo DiCaprio in the past. Her salary rivals her husbands. She dabbled as an actress in The Devil Wears Prada starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway. She’s supported numerous charities and launched Aqua Limpa, an organization for water conservation and plant recovery.
Born April 20, 1983, Australian model Miranda Kerr became a Victoria’s Secret Angel in 2007. She married Snap billionaire CEO Evan Spiegel. Some of her business ventures include her own personally-designed jewelry line and her own line of organic skin care products called Kora Organics. In 2015 she was appointed Ambassador for The Royal Hospital for Women Foundation.
Lingerie models seem to have it all, but their lives aren’t always easy. The dark side of the industry exploits young workers while some develop eating disorders. Being beautiful isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, but some models do use their careers in positive ways.
